I was out with a fellow photographer friend who also loves abandoned buildings and houses, we were looking for an abandoned hospital I remember seeing in Madison, TN. and I remembered seeing some sign about tuberculosis, maybe something in my mind was foggy. But we found the hospital, or so I think, on Due West Ave. It was having work done, and being used in parts for other purposes I think, we saw no way in, so it was a bust. While on back roads, we accidentally found an abandoned house up on a hill, so we decided to investigate. It had appeared to be abandoned for minimum of 5 years. Inside wasn’t that interesting, wood grain paneling on the walls, and most everything was stripped.
I found the outside area most interesting, with the overgrown weeds, weathered paint under the carport workshop area, busted windows and a kitchen sink with cabinets under the carport…so I had a traveling nude model visiting from out of town and we were updating her nude photography modeling portfolio. I thought of this place to bring her. I love abandoned structures being the paths less traveled and not recognized. Plus the character and story they tell. First a few of the house 🙂
Now, for the nude model outside the house, next article I will feature some artistic nude photos of her posing by the disheveled shed and gutted trailer, on the side of the property….this guy had a mini compound going on. Yup, there are several boudoir photographers in Nashville, but I make sure they are one of a kind, not like what the last client had 😉 Enjoy!! Oh, for photographer nerds, for the outdoor ones, I used an off camera strobe and a neutral density filter for added contrast and background exposure control.
I recently had the pleasure of working with a local nude model to help her update her portfolio, as well as me updating this site. Many clients wish to keep their sessions private and of course I assure discretion for them. It’s occasions like this that help me keep my own portfolio fresh. We went to an abandoned hotel property that is pretty well secluded and up on a hill. I did a quick look through to make sure there weren’t any vagrants hanging out there, which sometimes goes with the territory when working in abandoned locations….but the reward is so worth it! Outdoor nudes and abandoned location nude photography is awesome….the freedom of the outdoors and the sun, and the distress of the abandoned building with the contrast of the beautiful female body makes for perfect art.
Many clients and models feel more comfortable in the studio which is fine too, it’s easier to control light and it’s less lugging gear. But there is a liberation to the location nude photoshoots and I enjoy the challenge of lighting, and not falling into a comfort zone. I offer lingerie, as well as implied nude, or full nude photoshoots in studio or on location in Nashville and beyond. This is a more personalized approach to nude and boudoir photography than shooting someone on the same bad or chaise lounge that everyone gets. Book your own personal photoshoot in time for Christmas or Valentines Day. Prints as well as personalized albums available, please inquire about turnaround times for these wonderful heirlooms 🙂
For the photography geeks, I shot towards the sun for a little lens haze and flare, and backlighting. Subject lit with off camera Elinchrom Quadra with 17″ beauty dish at full power, and used a variable neutral density filter on my Canon 24-70 lens. I set it at 2 stops so I would get a better background contrast and controlled backlighting, loved the results! Here are the outdoor photos from this wonderful shoot, thanks Eeva for a great shoot! May these bring you success marketing yourself as a local and traveling nude model 🙂 Hope you enjoy, the next look from this shoot is coming soon! Stay tuned and tell others 🙂
I recently did a lovely private photoshoot of a young lady that would be an anniversary gift to her husband. They are an out of town couple so I feel very blessed that they found me when they were looking for a photographer who specialized in lingerie and nude photography! Once we talked and discussed their needs, and we had all the particulars sorted out, her and her husband decided to make a trek to Nashville when we set a date! The first order of business we discussed was that because they are business professionals, they needed to take all precautions to ensure that the photoshoot stays very discreet, and that the photos would never be published or seen anywhere. The photos were to remain private only for their use. I definitely understand their concern and agreed to do just that. It’s in my interest to protect my clients and make sure they are happy with the end product!
The couple rented a vacation rental downtown Nashville condo to relax for the weekend, and use it’s ambiance for the photoshoot, great plan! We had discussed the project in thorough detail by the time we all first met, so everyone was comfortable and at ease, and we knew what we set out to do. She had several lingerie and costume / fantasy outfits we would capture in various locations of the richly furnished condo. We used a mixture of natural window light as well as studio lighting I had with me, to create the most intimate and dramatic mood in the photos! We also photographed her nude in both classical art poses, and candid moods. The music played softly and really kept the mood going throughout the photoshoot. She felt comfortable and beautiful, as she should. There was no butter knife needed to cut through the air, we were all having a great time and making sure I captured all the looks they wanted. Lots of preparation went into it on their end, I really admired their creativity and appreciated the trust they placed in me.
Once we uploaded the photos I was ecstatic to know how pleased they were with the final product. At that point, they realized that sure, many people would have been glad to take on this project. But not choosing their photographer wisely could be costly and damaging to her self esteem, if they lack the technical photography knowledge or compositional knowledge. It takes more than a good camera to photograph quality nudes and figure study of the female body. It’s the “little details” such as twists and arches of the body, stretches, flattering angles, using the right lens for each angle and capture of the body, placement of fingers and hands, etc. Not to mention use of light, and knowledge of studio lighting, and how to make the subject comfortable. Perhaps, most important to them, discretion and being trustworthy. I am honored to know they have images they will treasure and that I have formed a great relationship with them. I look forward to doing this for others, and appreciate having their business, and trust. Sorry there will be no photos, but the narrative was too good for me not to share. 🙂
